Botany Kids Summer Workshops | K-2nd

We’re off to explore all things gardens and plants from bugs to seeds to compost at the Botany Kids Summer Workshops! These one-day, three-hour workshops are designed for children ages 3 years old* to children entering 2nd grade in the 2025/26 school year. Your child will get a rich, hands-on experience exploring the natural world around them, learning from farmers in our community and ways they can make a difference in their own part of the world. Register for one, two or all three workshops – each month will be a new experience! Includes a snack.

*children may not be in diapers or pull-ups and must be able to use the bathroom independently.

This workshop will focus on the environment and what we can do to take care of it! Then we’ll learn about our local community gardens and explore the process of composting and how to reuse recyclable materials to grow a garden of their own.

·         Explore: Recycle? Reuse? Grow? Sorting game

·         Create: build your own compost bin

·         Community Connection: visit Sun Choke or Botany Field to learn about composting and recycling in the garden

·         STEM activity: explore partially finished compost with magnifying glasses and tweezers looking for different materials; explore finished compost – compare/contrast; graph materials found
